TALL SHIPS BOUNTY FOR CHARITY
05 December 2003

Two young Modern Apprentices who had the adventure of a lifetime on the high seas have donated their bounty, otherwise known as sponsorship money, to the MacMillan Cancer Relief fund.

Gordon Mackay, Watten, and Liam More, Wick were fortunate enough to secure two of the three berths funded by Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise (CASE) in the Tall Ships Adventure 2003. They are both engineering Modern Apprentices, employed by UKAEA and Subsea 7 respectively.

After flying out to join their shipmates in Travemunde, Germany, they set sail on the 'Prince William' bound for Aberdeen, via the ports of Friedrichschafen and Copenhagen.

Lynne Johnstone, Skills Development Manager at CASE said, “It's nice to see that not only have the lads had a fantastic, character building experience, but they have also taken the time to benefit the charity of their choice. Well done to both and hopefully we will be able to offer this opportunity to Skillseekers or Modern Apprentices in the future."
