One of the leading timber kit manufacturers in the country has been recognised for its commitment to staff development.
Robertson Timberkit, a company within the highly successful Robertson Group, today received the Investors in People (IiP) award from Douglas Yule, chief executive of Moray Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise (MBSE).
IiP is a national initiative set up to ensure that organisations, no matter what their size, achieve their aims and objectives through the effective and ongoing development of their staff. IiP is delivered in the local area by MBSE, part of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise network.
Douglas Yule said: "Robertson Timberkit are an excellent example of a modern, forward thinking company. This is evident not only in their manufacturing processes but also in their staff development. It is this modern approach and commitment to staff development which has helped them earn the Investors in People award."
David Graham-Service, managing director of Robertson Timberkit, said: "We have always striven to invest in our most valuable asset - our people - and are delighted and proud to have achieved this national standard. Robertson Timberkit will continue to work towards maintaining this standard in this time of business growth as we now have the framework to continue to develop our people and achieve our staff development and business objectives."
Bill Roberston, executive chairman of the Robertson Group congratulated the company on their achievement.
He said: "Enabling people to improve their performance through training and development undoubtedly enhances the overall performance of an organisation. This award reflects the effort and commitment Robertson Timberkit staff have invested in ensuring all the processes for staff development met the high Investors in People standard, and I'm sure the company will continue to thrive, remaining at the fore-front of its sector for many years to come."
The firm, started in 1986, has its headquarters in Elgin in Moray, and this summer, opened a factory in Seaham in County Durham. It employs a total of 64 people.
Evidence of the company's commitment to the highest standard of product is the firm's accreditation to ISO9000 - the Government's hallmark for quality - and membership of UKTFA (UK Timber Frame Association).
All units are manufactured under stringently controlled factory conditions, thus ensuring accuracy and consistency of finish. Strict quality control checks are carried out and signed for at each and every stage of the manufacturing process.
The company also has trained specialists and advisors available to offer guidance and support on all aspects of timber frame construction as well as architectural, technical, consultation and erection services. The major benefits associated with this widespread form of modern construction include reduced programme timescales, design flexibility, energy efficiency, low maintenance and excellent insulation qualities.
Further expansion in the timber products operation is forecast in the residential, commercial, education, healthcare and self build markets.
