Vacancies on the board
14 October 2003

Inverness and Nairn Enterprise (INE), part of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) Network, currently has three vacancies on the board.

INE are looking for applications from enthusiastic members of the local community who have experience in community and business.  They are most interested to hear from people who have experience in health, property, finance and the voluntary or community sector.

Board members of INE would be expected to deliver economic and social development to an area, which is home to 78,000 people.  The board is non-executive and provides INE with strategic advice and guidance as well as making recommendations on larger financial investments.

INE is one of 10 local enterprises within the HIE network.  Their strategic objectives are growing businesses, which has a budget of  £1.4million for the development of e-business and the finance, marketing and planning of new businesses; developing skills and strengthening communities.  A further strategic objective is that of global connections, which also has a budget of £1.4million, and INE is right behind the campaign to give the Highlands and Islands Broadband.

In addition to this INE has also put forward a proposal for a business park and property development at Inverness Airport.

The post of director is unpaid, although actual travel and subsistence costs associated with carrying out the work of the board are reimbursed.

The Chairman of Inverness and Nairn Enterprise Ken Mackie commented on the vacancies by saying: "We will be delighted to hear from anyone in the community who feels they can contribute to the debate on strategic issues relating to the social and economic development of our area."

Situated at the Green House at Beechwood Business Park North, Inverness, INE covers an area from Beauly to the north, Fort Augustus to the south, Auldren to the east and Glenn Affric to the west.
