Broadband benefits spelled out for Moray businesses
12 September 2003

Moray Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise's broadband roadshow kicks off in Elgin next Tuesday (16 September), where businesses right across the Moray, Badenoch and Strathspey area are being invited to see for themselves the latest in broadband technology.

Elgin's Eight Acres Hotel will play host to the first of the three events planned for the area, which MBSE promises will throw light on the business benefits of broadband as well as helping to explain the jargon surrounding the subject.

All three events will use a mixture of seminars and practical workshops to demonstrate broadband's 'always on' access, its fixed costs and increased efficiency in a bid to encourage uptake of broadband by businesses in the area.

Mandy Holmes, development manager with Moray Badenoch and Strathspey Enterprise said:

"There has been much talk of broadband in the press and through advertising yet many businesses still find it quite confusing.  But the beauty of broadband is that you don't have to be a computer whiz to use it, which means that people and businesses of all kinds and sizes can benefit from it.

"These events have been designed so that people can come and try out the different kinds of broadband technology for themselves and find out first hand just how it can benefit them.  Special advisors will be on hand to explain how the technology works and to help people find out which type of broadband technology is right for them.

"Becoming broadband enabled can have a huge impact on a company's efficiency and productivity, and it is our aim to make sure as many as possible sign up."

Tuesday's event starts at 5pm and finishes at 8pm, with similar events due to take place in Buckie and Forres.
