| Shetland businesses offered a training boost | |
| 02 September 2003 Businesses large and small are being encouraged to sign up for Shetland Enterprise's latest round of training courses designed for both business and personal development. They range from courses on marketing, recruitment and appraisal, to tips on how to improve presentation skills, think positively, and be assertive. Most of them will be held at the Shetland Business Innovation Centre in North Gremista. This is the third year the series of courses have been run and Steven Leask from Shetland Enterprise said the feedback from previous delegates had been very positive: "Many businesses think training means expense, but because we have been able to greatly subsidise these courses, we hope that even the smallest of firms will find something that suits their budget. "One of our key priorities as an economic development agency is to ensure that local businesses have the opportunity to keep their skills up to date, as it can play a vital role in keeping businesses competitive and efficient." Places on the courses are part-funded by Shetland Enterprise and Shetland Islands Council. They are designed for small and medium sized businesses and aim to equip senior staff with a range of effective techniques designed to boost their business performance. People interested in attending should contact Janice Clark at the Shetland Business Innovation Centre on 01595 742100. | |
