Assistance from Caithness and Sutherland Enterprise (CASE) has given Sutherland Schools Pipe Band the opportunity to perform at the Calgary Stampede 2003.

Pictured getting in the mood for the 'Calgary Stampede 2003', billed as the "greatest outdoor show on earth" are some of the members of the Sutherland Schools Pipe Band who will be performing at the annual event in Alberta, Canada in July. The trip will involve 19 youngsters and 4 adults from across Sutherland who will also perform at other smaller events over a ten-day period.

CASE has approved assistance of £5,417 via their Sports and Arts grants programme.

George Jack, Community Projects Manager for CASE, said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for these young people to sample the atmosphere of such an amazing event, and will be an experience which they will remember for a long time. I am sure they will also be tremendous ambassadors for the culture and traditional musical heritage of the Highlands."
