Nice nails, new business!
28 January 2003

An Inverness woman has set up her own nail art business in the town with help from Inverness and Nairn Enterprise (INE).

Trading as 'The Nail Studio', Karen Newman - a fully qualified nail technician - offers clients manicures, pedicures, acrylic nail enhancements and nail art (for fingers and toes), in keeping with all the latest fashions.  Karen also offers a range of retail products including OPI nail lacquers, Nail Envy and the highly acclaimed Fake Bake self tan system products.

Business start-up assistance from INE via its HIE-Starts programme helped Karen get her business started.  The Network-wide initiative is designed to help new businesses by providing a regular income for the first twelve months of trading, usually the most difficult time for fledgling businesses.

Karen has secured space to operate her new business from The Sensory Hair and Beauty salon within Living Well Premier health club.   She says she is looking forward to welcoming clients, both members and non members alike: "I am absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to start my own business in such an exciting and rewarding industry.

"I am extremely grateful to INE for their assistance and ongoing support and would encourage more people to approach them if they have ideas about starting their own business."

HIE-Starts manager at INE, Maria Peter said: "New business starts are valuable economic driver for the local economy and at INE we are keen to help people like Karen to realise their business ambitions."
