Pupils at Arisaig Primary School had a welcome break from classes recently when their head teacher was presented with an Investors in People (IiP) award.

To mark being one of only three schools in the Lochaber area to receive IiP status, a day of celebration was planned.  The children entertained their guests with songs and music before releasing helium-filled balloons with goodwill messages attached.

The award recognises the work and commitment put into the school by all staff members and was presented to Martin Jones by Councillor Charlie King.  Also present were Hector Robertson, local education manager, and Lesley Benfield from Lochaber Enterprise.

Investors in People helps schools raise achievement levels by encouraging staff to improve their skills, recognise successes, and involve teachers, governors and parents in decisions.
