Investors in people award for growing Inverness company
30 August 2002

DJM Communications, an Inverness-based telecommunications company, has been recognised as continuing to meet the Investors in People Standard following a comprehensive assessment by the awarding body Investors in People Scotland.

The company first committed to working towards the IIP standard, in conjunction with Inverness & Nairn Enterprise (INE), back in 1998 and was recognised for the first time in the year 2000.  This is a second successful recognition for the company and, according to sales director David MacBeath, serves to underline the fact that, despite a number of fundamental changes and the rapid expansion of the business, the partners are still dedicated to the principles of developing staff to achieve their full potential in line with the business plan.

He said:  "It has now been 16 months since DJM purchased the telecoms division of another Inverness based telecommunications company. This meant that we took over responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of some 500 telephone systems and this transitional time has been exceptionally busy for us. DJM have always been a service orientated company and having built up a lot of repeat business from this, we have concentrated on making improvements in the service department. Our engineering staff are highly trained and we undertake to complete all faults satisfactorily by the end of the next working day.

Shona Allison, Investors in People Adviser with INE said:  "IIP is a nationally recognised quality standard that helps organisations to focus on the skills and development needs that members of staff require in order to enable the organisation to meet its business objectives. Both the staff and management of DJM Communications are to be congratulated on their recent achievement".

DJM Director, Jacky MacBeath, was equally pleased with the achievement: "IIP accreditation sends a clear message to our staff and customers of our commitment to high quality customer service.  But more than that it provides a valuable framework for more focused business planning and identification of training needs for staff.  All of these are vital in the modern business environment, which is why we were keen to register with IIP and demonstrate that we meet the standards required.  DJM is indebted to staff at Inverness and Nairn Enterprise for their help in taking us through the IIP accreditation process and in so doing, helping us to achieve our business objectives.  We must also pay tribute to our own staff as IIP recognition is for the company's people, not just the company."
