PIPE DREAM REALISED FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS
03 January 2002

One of Lochaber's musical youth is pictured with a new set of small pipes - thanks to a grant of £400 from Lochaber Enterprise.

The youngster is part of Feis Lochabair - a local traditional music group which exists to encourage young people in the area take part in traditional music, song and dance.

Two sets of pipes were needed by the group in order for its members to learn how to play them. The small pipes are worked by bellows under the arm, and give a gentler sound than the Highland bagpipe.

Unfortunately at nearly £800 per set, they were proving too costly for the Feis or its members to purchase on their own, so the Lochaber Enterprise assistance has helped them achieve their goal
