| NEW WORKSHOPS MEAN NEW OPPORTUNITIES | |
| 02 October 2000 Small manufacturing and craft businesses in the Cowal area of Argyll are being presented with the opportunity to expand their businesses, with the completion of two new workshop units near Tighnabruaich. The single storey units have been built by Argyll and the Islands Enterprise (AIE), part of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise network, and form the first phase of development at the Kames Industrial Estate. Both measure 1000 square feet and are on the western outskirts of the village of Kames, on the road leading to the Portavadie ferry terminal on Loch Fyne. AIE are expecting a considerable demand for the workshops which were built at a cost of £150,000. The new units offer small, local manufacturers and craft producers the opportunity for growth and it is expected that up to 8 full-time jobs will be created as firms come forward to occupy the units. Ken Abernethy, chief executive of AIE said: "The Enterprise Company is committed to supporting businesses by providing modern industrial premises for sale or let and we are aware that there is a demand for this type of accommodation, particularly in Cowal. We are delighted that the units are now complete and ready for lease." Companies interested in becoming tenants should contact Mearns McCaskie of marketing agents Graham and Sibbald, tel: 0141 3321194. | |
