Granit Union Limited, suppliers of natural stone products to the construction
industry, are the 100th organisation in the Inverness and Nairn Enterprise (INE)
area to achieve Investors in People status. Chief executive at INE, Bill Sylvester presented Granit Union's company accountant Graham Harris with the award outside the company's new premises on Longman Road, Inverness. The new building will bring the firm's Inverness-based staff under one roof when they move there in a few weeks time, vacating premises in Fraser Street and the Longman Industrial Estate. Granit Union was established in 1992 by David Burton, and through continuous expansion, has diversified from streetscape products into flooring, cladding and signs. The company, which owns a quarry in Caithness, has the largest and most prestigious portfolio of natural stone products in the UK and employs a total of 43 staff. The company embarked on the IiP programme, a national award which promotes the development of staff and skills, in October 1999. | |
