PUSHING BACK THE FRONTIERS OF BUSINESS SUCCESS
15 January 2001

A Wester Ross business which specialises in walking holidays is the latest organisation in the area to achieve Investors in People (IiP) - the national business development award which encourages organisations to make the most of their key resource - their staff.

Andrew and Joni Bluefield from North-West Frontiers in Ullapool received the award from Ross and Cromarty Enterprise (RACE) member of staff Penny Gray. The husband and wife team set up the business in 1986 to provide walking holidays in an area which contains some of the most impressive mountains in Scotland.

They now employ 6 people who guide walkers of all levels around the impressive landscape of the Highlands and Islands, explaining about the flora, fauna, geology and local history of the area as they go. The business also offers overseas trips to Nepal.

RACE provided practical support and advice to North West Frontiers while they worked towards the IiP standard which is independently assessed and awarded.
