| ARGYLL CATERING SCORES TRY WITH SECOND VAN | |
| 19 February 2001 Argyll Catering took its place in the lineout at Scotland's Six Nations Rugby game on Saturday (17 February, 2001) which saw Scotland fight back to achieve a thrilling 28-28 draw with Wales at Murrayfield. Argyll Catering are often hired by the BBC to keep camera crews and commentators well fed during filming and the company, with help from Argyll and the Islands Enterprise (AIE), part of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise network has recently purchased a second catering van to help meet the increasing demand for their service. AIE awarded Argyll Catering a development grant worth £5,700 towards the cost of expanding the business. Ian Murray of Argyll Catering said: "We have worked for a wide variety of films and TV producers. On location we bring a fully fitted mobile kitchen and support vehicles equipped with preparation benches, storage, refrigeration and gas cooking. "When food is served from a hatch people expect to bite into a greasy burger or bacon roll. We defy these expectations offering fine food using only the best locally available produce." The company specialises in homecooking and offers an extensive menu including diced herring, carrot roulade, vension sausage casserole and Mediterranean stew along with a variety of homemade sweets and puddings to follow. Mr Murray previously owned a restaurant in Argyll which was Taste of Scotland registered and held an AA rosette. Chief executive of AIE, Ken Abernethy said: "Argyll Catering has captured a niche market by providing high quality fare for film and television crews working all over the Highlands and Islands. This expansion will not only provide four new full-time jobs but will help preserve and further promote the quality image of Highland caterers and food producers." | |
