| 26 March 2001 Lochaber Limited, the enterprise company responsible for economic and social development in the local area is to change its name to Lochaber Enterprise. The name change takes affect from April 2nd bringing it into line with the other nine enterprise companies that make up the Highlands and Islands Enterprise network. Jackie Wright, chief executive of Lochaber Limited said: "The decision to fall into line with the other local enterprise companies regarding the name reflects ministerial will to have a strong network-wide identity that is easily recognised and understood. Furthermore this gives us the opportunity to incorporate Gaelic into our corporate identity reflecting the rich Gaelic culture and heritage in the area." "We will change the signage and have everything in place for the start of the new financial year in April. The logo has been amended in-house and work to renew signage and letterheads is presently out to tender at an estimated value of £6000. Sandy Cumming, chief executive of HIE said: "We are delighted that the local enterprise company in Lochaber will be more closely branded with the rest of the HIE network reaffirming their role in the overall sustainable development of the Highlands and Islands." Andy Rogers, chairman of Lochaber Limited said: "This local enterprise company is one of the success stories of the HIE network being instrumental in helping transform the fortunes of our area which just a few years ago faced enormous difficulties. Development has moved forward in the past ten years and Lochaber Enterprise will continue to be a key part of delivering further success in our local area." | |
