NO CAUSE FOR ALARM
07 June 2000

There was no cause for alarm recently when the latest Ross-shire business secured the Investors in People award.

Logic Alarms install security, fire alarm and closed circuit TV systems from their Muir-of-Ord base where they now employ seven people. The business was started just four years ago from home by husband and wife team Ian and Hazel MacKenzie.

Now located in their new premises, Hazel MacKenzie said: "Last year, we achieved two other quality awards including one which was awarded from the regulatory body for the security alarm industry itself. Achieving IiP has been the icing on the cake for us as it helped to improve our systems and procedures. This in turn has had a positive impact on increasing the efficiency and profitability of our business."

Investors in People is a national award which encourages companies and organisations to make the most of their key resource - their staff - by developing their skills in line with overall business objectives.

Investors in People is co-ordinated in the north of Scotland by the Highlands and Islands Enterprise network. Ross and Cromarty Enterprise (RACE) are able to provide practical support and advice for local businesses and organisations working towards the Investors in People standard, which is independently assessed and awarded.

Head of Investors in People at RACE, Hilary Crick said: "Logic Alarms has grown rapidly in a very short period of time, therefore it was important that their workforce was informed, developed and trained in order to achieve the business objectives which they had set out. The IiP process has helped achieve this and should provide them with a structure to go on making improvements in the future."
