| New Deputy Chief Executive for Shetland Enterprise | |
| 12 July 2004 Shetland Enterprise has appointed a new deputy chief executive. Gail Mohamed took up the post on June 28th. Gail was born in Dumbarton and brought up in Fife and has family connections with Shetland. She graduated from Dundee University with an MA in accountancy and qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst and Young in Edinburgh. She has worked extensively in the banking industry in Scotland, London and the Middle East and joins Shetland Enterprise from HSBC in Dubai where she was responsible for HSBC's management reporting function across the Middle East. Gail said: "I am very pleased to have secured this post at an important time in the development of Shetland's economy. I look forward to working with partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors to help to realise the area's enormous potential. "I am excited to be working with my new colleagues, continuing to focus on diversifying Shetland's economic base while also working to sustain our remote and fragile areas." Commenting on Gail's appointment, chief executive, Ann Black said: "I would like to welcome Gail to our team at Shetland Enterprise and look forward to working with her to promote and advance the work we do here. "I'm sure she will make an excellent deputy as she brings a lot of experience and enthusiasm to the post." | |
